What We Do

Multimodal Transportation Planning

Lima & Associates is a leader in multimodal transportation planning for metropolitan areas, small urban areas, and rural areas. We have prepared multimodal transportation plans throughout Arizona that have included roadway, transit, pedestrian, and bicycle elements. Our planning projects in Arizona include Pinal County, City of Maricopa, City of Casa Grande, Colorado River Region, Central Yavapai County, Verde Valley, Lake Havasu City, White Mountain Region, and Graham County. We have also been at the forefront of statewide transportation planning for Arizona from the initial 1994 State Transportation Plan to the 2005 Arizona Long-Range Plan (MoveAZ). Lima & Associates has also assisted other firms in developing transportation plans for a variety of communities throughout Arizona.

Transit Planning

Lima & Associates offers transit planning services as an integral part of the firm's multimodal transportation services.  We have conducted transit planning as part of our Arizona work on the City of Maricopa Small Area Transportation Study, Pinal County Transportation Plan 2000, and a variety of corridor planning studies.  In addition, we offer our transit planning services to local, county, and regional agencies.  In Arizona, we have performed transit feasibility studies for the City of Payson, City of Apache Junction, City of Casa Grande, Town of Camp Verde, and the Verde Valley.

In Maricopa County, Arizona we have provided a variety of traffic forecasting and analyses for corridor studies including McDowell Road, 51st/59th Avenue, Tuthill Road/Jackrabbit Trail, and Gilbert Road. Lima & Associates has also provided services in the development of access management plans including SR 95 from I-40 to the Bill Williams Bridge, SR 85 Access Management Study, and SR 169 Access Control Study.

Transportation Modeling

Lima & Associates is well known for our transportation modeling services throughout the transportation community. We have provided transportation modeling services to state, regional, county, and local agencies in Arizona, Nebraska, and Nevada.  We have developed or updated travel demand models for the Flagstaff Metropolitan Planning Organization (FMPO), Yuma Metropolitan Planning Organization (YMPO), Central Yavapai Metropolitan Planning Organization (CYMPO), Pinal County, and Verde Valley in Arizona; City of Lincoln, Columbus, and Kearney, Nebraska; and the Southern Nevada Regional Transportation Commission.  In addition, we have conducted traffic forecasting for a variety of major corridors in the Phoenix Metropolitan Area including I-17, proposed South Mountain Freeway, and I-10 Collector Distributor Roads. Lima & Associates also offers training in the use of the TransCAD software.

Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
